What to Know

  • Hollywood Police released surveillance video Friday showing an elderly man being brutally beaten.

Police in Hollywood have released surveillance video of an elderly man being brutally attacked in the hopes that it will help them find the suspect.

The attack happened May 25 in the area of 1711 S. Surf Rd., after the suspect had been asked not to park his vehicle in a reserved parking spot, Hollywood Police said in a release Friday.

The video showed the suspect approach the elderly man and punch him, causing the man to fall to the ground. The suspect then continued to punch the man until a woman came and stopped him, and the suspect fled the scene.

The 69-year-old victim, who didn't want to be identified, said he got sucker-punched.

"At my age, that's all I could do was protect myself, he hit me here so hard he almost knocked me out," the man said. "I have double vision right now because of it, I have a mild concussion."

Police described the suspect as a black male with a slender build, possibly in his 30s with long dreadlocks. He was possibly driving a red or burgundy Ford Mustang.
