Britain Warns LGBT Tourists About NC, Miss.

The legislation in North Carolina banns anti-discrimination protections for gay and transgender people and Mississippi's law allows businesses to deny service based on their belief on marriage

Britain has advised gay tourists on travel to North Carolina and Mississippi, states that have recently passed laws deemed as discriminatory, NBC News reported.

The legislation in North Carolina banns anti-discrimination protections for gay and transgender people and Mississippi's law allows businesses to deny service based on their belief on marriage.

"The U.S, is an extremely diverse society and attitudes towards [lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender] people differ hugely across the country," the U.K.'s Foreign Office said in a statement on its website. "LGBT travelers may be affected by legislation passed recently in the states of North Carolina and Mississippi."

This international notice comes after national backlash against the North Carolina laws, including musicians Bruce Springsteen and rock band Pearl Jam canceling their performances in the state.
