Amy Winehouse's Mother Says Singer Needs Rescue

The mother of singer Amy Winehouse says her troubled daughter needs to be rescued.

In an interview due to be broadcast Wednesday by Britain's ITV News, Janis Winehouse says "Amy is in denial all the time" and is trapped by her addictions.

The 25-year-old's drug problems have been highly publicized and the soul diva has been in and out of rehab.

In the ITV interview her father, Mitch, says Winehouse is on a drug replacement program but continues to drink.

He says he has been powerless to change her behavior.

Snippets of the interview were shown Tuesday night on ITV. It was not immediately clear when the interview was conducted.

An e-mail sent late Tuesday to Winehouse's representative was not immediately returned.
