White House to Hold Summit on Education

More than 100 fellow higher education, government, business and philanthropic leaders from across the country are anticipated to pat Thursday's daylong event in Washington, D.C.

The White House is to hold a summit Thursday to explore ways to expand access to a college education to low-income students and disadvantage students, according to The Associated Press.

President Barack Obama, first lady Michelle Obama and U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, are scheduled to be on hand.

Gregory W. Gray, the president of Connecticut's Board of Regents, is attending a White House summit. As president of the Board of Regents, Gray oversees the 17 state colleges and universities in the ConnSCU system. The former chancellor of the Riverside Community College District in Calif., Gray started his new job in Connecticut on July 1.
