Bionic Dog: Engineering Students Help Jimmy, Three-Legged Pooch, Get New Limb

Three-legged dog gets a little help from some enterprising engineering students

Jimmy, a three-legged Cockapoo and puppy mill survivor is now walking with a bionic limb, thanks to some enterprising engineering students from Ohio State University.

The new prosthetic is the first of its kind, according to OSU student Hiromi Tsuda who worked on the new leg.

"They didn't have one for dogs that were amputated at the shoulder joint. So I thought this is going to be a big challenge, groundbreaking. Nobody has really done it before," she told NBC affiliate WCMH.

Asked why she helped work on this project, Tsuda told WCMH, "You can improve the life of a dog using technology. It will be great if I can help dogs because I love dogs. I've loved dogs all my life."
