Amazon Shares Break Above $1,000 for First Time

Shares of Amazon.com crossed the $1,000 threshold briefly Tuesday, putting it in rarefied company, CNBC reported.

Just 14 other U.S. stocks trade above $1,000 per share, according to FactSet, and Amazon is worth more than four times those other companies combined. Amazon was once again just shy under the milestone minutes later.

Amazon posted revenue of $35.7 billion in its late April report, with sales increasing.

Alphabet, the parent company of Google, is close behind its fellow tech giant, with shares trading above $990 Tuesday.
