Consumers picking up a case of Yuengling lager might want to grab a carton of Yuengling chocolate chip while they're out.

The name linked to America's oldest brewery is once again lending itself to ice cream.
David Yuengling is resurrecting Yuengling's Ice Cream, an ice cream business started by his great-grandfather in 1920 to help supplement the brewery's revenue during Prohibition, according to the Republican-Herald of Pottsville.
The new company is unaffiliated with the Pottsville-based brewery. David Yuengling is a second cousin of brewery owner Dick Yuengling.
The original Yuengling's Ice Cream later changed its name to Yuengling Dairy Products and added milk and cream to its product lineup before ceasing production in 1985.
"Over the years, people have always asked to bring it back and they say how much they loved it. The few people that we have told so far, everyone said it's a great idea and wish we had done it long ago,'' said David Yuengling, 51, who spent 30 years in the computer industry.

The ice cream will be produced at Leiby's Premium Ice Cream in nearby Tamaqua. It will come in 10 flavors _ including black and tan, a chocolate and caramel mix that's a clear nod to the Yuengling beer variety of the same name.
David Yuengling said it will be available by the quart in grocery stores in Pennsylvania and other mid-Atlantic states starting in March.
