Couple Steals From Youth Soccer Group: Police

Police say a couple who headed a youth soccer organization in northeastern Pennsylvania stole more than $40,000, nearly bankrupting the group.

Online court records don't list attorneys for Edward and Kathryn Koch who were treasurer and president, respectively, of the Greater Pittston Stoners Soccer Organization.

Police say the Pittston couple forged checks to steal the money and deposit it into their own account, then spent the money on personal items.

Edward Koch is charged with stealing more than $41,200, while his wife is being held responsible for only $3,600 that's missing. They face a preliminary hearing on March 11.

Edward Koch allegedly told police he took the money because a knee injury kept him off work, and he used it to pay child support and other bills.

The couple doesn't have a listed phone number.
