Pennsylvania Worker Dies After Fall From Scaffolding on Hospital Project

Authorities say a worker restoring bricks on the exterior of a central Pennsylvania hospital died after falling from scaffolding, the second fatal construction accident in the region in as many days.

The Bloomsburg Press Enterprise reports that the worker was on the exterior of the eighth floor of the Foss Clinic at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville when he fell Wednesday.

Hospital chief administrative officer Tom Sokola said the cause of the accident was not yet known. He said two other workers were on the scaffolding at the time. The Montour County coroner's office was called to investigate.

In neighboring Columbia County, the coroner's office said 37-year-old Richard Thomas Gold III of Unityville died Tuesday when a trench collapsed on a state transportation department project in Eyers Grove.
