Woman Struck in Hit-&-Run While Crossing Street With Family

A woman is fighting for her life after police say she was struck in a hit-and-run crash in Cheltenham Township.

On October 27 around 8:30 p.m., the 55-year-old woman was crossing the street with her family on the 8200 block of Ogontz Avenue in the area of the SEPTA bus loop. Suddenly she was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound. Police say the vehicle did not stop after the crash and was last seen traveling westbound on Cheltenham Avenue.

The woman, a Philadelphia resident, was taken to Abington Memorial Hospital where she is currently in critical condition.

Investigators describe the hit-and-run vehicle as a late model, dark gray sedan, possibly a Nissan Altima or Maxima. They also say it should have front end damage and a missing passenger side mirror.
