Woman Killed in Crash, Driver Charged With DWI

Authorities say a woman was killed when an alleged drunk driver struck her vehicle on a northern New Jersey highway.

Passaic police tell The Record that 32-year-old Danielle Daszczyszak of Clifton may have been ejected from her car during the crash, which occurred around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday on Route 21 northbound. She was taken to a hospital, but died there a short time later.

The other driver, 30-year-old Adrian Ofarrill of Newark, had to be extricated from his vehicle, which was on fire when police arrived. He was being treated at a hospital for "serious injuries," but further details were not disclosed.

Ofarrill was charged with drunken driving and several other motor vehicle offenses, including driving with a suspended license. Authorities say he also may face further charges.
