Woman Killed by Hit-and-Run Driver

Police are searching for driver and car

A 29-year-old woman was killed during a hit-and-run late Saturday night in North Philadelphia.

Police say Lillian Acevedo was standing near a parked car when she was hit. The incident happened around 11 pm at 200 West Erie Street in the Juniata section of the city.

Family members say they were watching a sporting event in a nearby house when they heard a loud noise.

"We were inside. Everybody ran outside and that's when we crossed the street and found out it was our cousin," Lisa Cardona said.

Acevedo was pronounced dead at the scene.

"She was a beautiful person, 29 years old...a wonderful spirit," Cardona said.

Police are searching for the driver and a white Oldsmobile Delta 88 with damage to the right passenger headlight and windshield.
