Police: Woman Breaks Infant's Leg, Lies

Police in northeastern Pennsylvania say a woman broke her month-old daughter's leg and then lied about it to police.

Jennifer Ann Nolan was arraigned Monday on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and endangering the welfare of children.

The 26-year-old Scranton woman is jailed in lieu of $20,000 bail pending an Oct. 13 preliminary hearing. Online court records didn't list a lawyer to comment on the charges.

The Scranton Times-Tribune reports Nolan was arrested Sunday after police say Nolan admitted pulling hard on the girl's leg while arguing with her boyfriend.

Police say Nolan also admitted smacking the girl with an open hand out of frustration over her crying. They say she'd initially claimed the infant's injuries were caused by rolling off a bassinet.
