Woman Allegedly Stole Puppy From SPCA

A puppy has been recovered after it was allegedly stolen from a northeastern Pennsylvania SPCA in a woman's purse.

Investigators say the theft happened June 13 at the Luzerne County SPCA in Plains Township. Police say the woman, whose name has not been released, concealed the dog in her purse.

Police in Hazleton said Tuesday that they had recovered the dog. Police Chief Frank DeAndrea says officers responded to a home, where they found the woman and the dog. DeAndrea says the woman admitted to the theft. Charges are pending.

The dog has been returned to the Luzerne County SPCA.
