Police Sent on Wild-Ostrich Chase After Barn Fire in Chester County

After a fire ripped through a hay-loaded barn at Canter Hill Farm on Friday, Chester County Police had another issue on their hands-- capturing a 200+ pound Ostrich who ran away from the farm.

East Whiteland Fire Company along with the help of six other companies, responded to the barn fire around just before 3:00 p.m. on Friday. When crews arrived, the fire had spread to the woods around the barn and to a nearby chicken coop. No large animals were hurt in the fire, however a number of chickens are missing.

Canter Hill Farm is an organic farm that raises chicken, turkey, sheep and ostrich. The fire is currently under investigation by the Chester County fire marshal's office.

Friday evening, the bird was corralled at Meadowbrook Manor Park on Swedesford Road near the Exton Mall.
