West Point Cadets Hurt in Pa. Crash

8 West Point cadets hospitalized after Pa. crash

Eight cadets from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in New York are in the hospital after a car wreck near the Poconos.

It happened around 8 p.m. Thursday on Interstate 80 west in Sugarloaf Township, Luzerne County.

State police said a van carrying the cadets was heading west when it swerved to miss a vehicle that had illegally used a cross-over path for emergency vehicles.

The van flipped and ended up in the opposite lane.

Eight cadets were taken to a hospital. No information was immediately available on the extent of their injuries. Police said the cadet driving the van wasn't hurt.
