Parts of the area are expected to see major snowfall from a winter storm that will be moving up the East Coast this weekend.
"We're talking about very high accumulations, especially for December," NBC Philadelphia chief meteorologist Glenn "Hurricane" Schwartz said.
Dueling computer models from Europe and the U.S. are still trying to determine the exact track of the storm, but the latest information suggests that much of Delaware and South Jersey could see major snowfall.
On the other side, parts of the area could see nothing but clouds, says Schwartz.
The storm's effect on Philadelphia and areas north and east still remains to be seen, but the National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Watch for the entire area. The watch, which was extented from just the city and south, will begin Friday evening and last until late Saturday night.
The storm is expected to develop into a major Nor'easter, Schwartz says.
Snow could begin to fall as early as Saturday morning and last until Sunday afternoon. Here's a timeline:

It is still too early to predict snowfall numbers, but new information is expected to be released this evening.
