Weather This Week: What to Expect

Keep your hat and gloves handy as freezing temperatures will persist for the start of the work week.

Snow moved out Sunday evening leaving a fresh coating of snow on side streets and sidewalks Monday morning. Caution is needed because the snow is sticking around thanks to the cold temperatures.

"It's going to start below freezing before the start of the work week," said NBC10 First Alert Weather meteorologist Brittney Shipp. "It will be sunny and cold (Monday and Tuesday)."

Monday and Tuesday nights will bring cold temperatures that dip into the single digits in the Pennsylvania suburbs. This cold blast is another blow to the area households that remained without power and heat Monday as a result of last week's ice storm. The lack of power has many PECO customers frustrated.

The First Alert Weather team is tracking a chance of snow for Wednesday night into Thursday. The wintry mix will approach the Philadelphia region around 7 p.m. but it's still too soon to give exact details.
