Wawa Flies North Into NJ

Famous Philly-area food/gas chain opens 1st store in North Jersey

The Philadelphia region’s most familiar convenience store is migrating north in the Garden State.

Wawa is now open in North Jersey.

The Pennsylvania-based convenience store chain held a grand opening Friday for a Wawa in Kearny, its first in Hudson County.

Wawa isn’t stopping at one store in North Jersey. You will soon be able to get a hot turkey bowl, Shorti hoagie and/or soft pretzel at stores set to open the first half of the year in Woodbridge and Elizabeth.

Wawa says it will expand into additional counties in North Jersey in 2014 and 2015.

The company operates more than 600 stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and Florida.
