Wawa Opens 500th Fuel Store in Cheltenham, Celebrates With Troops

Wawa fueled Cheltenham residents with excitement Thursday morning as the company unveiled its 500th gas station-food market in the Pa. township.

In a celebration of the historic landmark, Wawa announced they will be offering free any-size coffee to customers all day at the new location, located on 8250 Limekiln Pike.

At 10:30 a.m., the company also organized a special price roll back for fuel for a brief time to celebrate the achievement. Prices for regular gas went as low $1.20 per gallon.

In anticipation of Veterans Day, Wawa hosted a number of activities and awards for members of the U.S. armed forces.

They prepared a care package assembly station at the ribbon-cutting ceremony where people can create a bundle with Wawa coffee, goodies, and write a handwritten letter of appreciation. The package will be sent to deployed troops in time for the holidays.

A returning soldier also received a $500 fuel gift card.

In 20 years since opening its first fuel market, Wawa reached another milestone Thursday by serving its 20 billionth gallon of fuel-- and a recently returned military member was given the honor of pumping it.

Wawa’s Vice President of fuel Brian Schaller said he was glad to have shared the celebration with the men and women who serve this country.

“Today, we honor the associates and customers who have helped us achieve this milestone, as well as our heroes who make our communities and our country such a special place,” Schaller said.

Wawa currently operates more than 730 stores in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and Florida.
