Fire Victim Dies Days After Bucks County Officer Performed CPR in Attempt to Save Resident's Life

Days after a quick-acting Bucks County officer performed CPR to bring back a man, that fire victim has died.

Warminster Township Police Officer Andrew Simkiw an up to the home at Newtown and E Bristol roads to find the man unresponsive on the porch around 12:30 a.m. Friday, said investigators. The officer and a colleague performed CPR on 56-year-old Robert Hill until paramedics arrived to rush the man Abington Memorial Hospital.

“I do know he had a pulse when he left here,” said Warminster Fire Chief Mitch Shapiro.

rescued Hill from the fire early Friday morning after he found him unconscious on the front porch. Simkiw and another officer performed CPR on Hill until an ambulance arrived.

Hill was eventually taken to Temple University Hospital, where he later died.

Fire officials say the blaze started in the kitchen and was accidental.

A firefighter suffering from heat exhaustion and a police officer who hurt his hand trying to break a window were also hospitalized.
