Virtua Health has become the latest area health system to let people go online to check the wait times at its hospital emergency departments.
“Easy access to ER wait times provides patients with options, and enables them to choose the most convenient location for their care,” said Richard P. Miller, president and CEO of Virtua.
The South Jersey health system has placed a “wait time calculator” at the top right-hand corner of its website, Virtua.org, for its five emergency departments. The number represents the average estimated length of time from registration upon arrival at the hospital to an examination by a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant. Average wait times are determined by the previous two hours of ER patient visits.
