Vigil Held For Hit And Run Victim

The family and friends of Liliana Acevedo held a vigil Monday night to mark the six-month anniversary of her tragic death.

The event took place from 6 to 7 p.m. at the site of the crime on 3rd and Erie Avenue.

Liliana was the victim of a fatal hit and run on Saturday, May 1.

At around 10:50 p.m. on the 200 block of West Erie Avenue in Philadelphia’s Juniata section, witnesses say that Liliana was retrieving a bag from her car.

Suddenly a car came down the road and hit her, killing her instantly, according to authorities. The driver never stopped. Liliana, who worked in admissions at St. Joseph's Hospital, was 29-years-old.

The vehicle is described as a White 1989 Oldsmobile Delta with moderate to extensive damage on the front passenger's side and damage to the front headlight cover. The windshield may be broken and the right side view mirror may be damaged as well.

The case is still unsolved and police continue to search for the suspect. There is a $15000 reward for anyone with information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.
