Hit-&-Run Leaves Man Hurt

A van struck a man as he walked along a busy Delaware County highway and then drove away. The alleged driver didn't spend long on the loose, however.

The hit-&-run driver struck the pedestrian along the 7000 block of West Chester Pike in Upper Darby, Pa. around 10:30 p.m. Thursday.

The victim was rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he remained in critical condition Friday morning with head injuries.

Police didn't identify the victim and didn't say exactly where he was when he was struck.

An initial investigation only revealed a vague description of the vehicle. Upper Darby Police described the van as being gray with passenger side damage.

A person walked into the Upper Darby Police station before 7 a.m. Friday and surrendered in the case. Police didn't reveal any details about the alleged driver.
