Vice President Joe Biden Speaks to House Democrats in Philly

A day after President Barack Obama spoke to the House Democratic caucus in Philadelphia Thursday, Vice President Joe Biden is set to deliver remarks to the group.

Biden is scheduled to speak to the more than 180 Democratic representatives Friday morning at the Sheraton Society Hill Hotel.

Local Democratic leaders said they hope Biden will help convince the Democratic National Committee chairwoman, U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, to select Philadelphia as the host city for the 2016 convention.

The convention is scheduled for July 25, 2016.

Philly is competing with Columbus, Ohio and New York City's Brooklyn borough for hosting duties.

Biden's visit comes in the midst of the caucus' three-day policy retreat. The annual meeting included discussions on job creation and immigration issues.

Obama spoke to the delegation Thursday evening, touching upon the nation's budget, income inequality and poverty, and foreign trade deals.
