Veterans Stay in Beach Homes for Free During Warrior Beach Week

Veterans recovering from wartime injuries and their families will get to stay in condos and houses in Bethany Beach, Delaware, for free this week.

It's part of Warrior Beach Week, an annual event to help give thanks to veterans.

Organizer Annette Reeping tells The Journal News that 35 groups arrived for the beach week on Tuesday, including five families who took part in last year's event.

This is the second year the event's been held.

Veterans can apply for the program through the Wounded Warrior Project, a nationwide organization that chooses the families that can participate.

In addition to the free vacation homes for a week, Bethany Beach businesses give the veterans free or deeply discounted services, including recreation.

Steve Moulton, a veteran who participated in last year's event, says the experience gave him a hard-to-find sense of comfort.
