A missing baby who was inside a car that was stolen was found safe in Upper Darby Wednesday night, police said.
The 11-month-old child was inside a gray 2020 Hyundai Elantra along the unit block of 69th Street at 6:30 p.m. Police told NBC10 the baby's mother, who was working as a food delivery driver, was picking up from a restaurant at the time and left the car running with the keys inside. An unidentified person then got into the car and drove off.

Shortly before 8:30 p.m., police told NBC10 the child was found safe along the 100 block of Heather Road in Upper Darby. Telly Vasiliadas told NBC10 he found the baby in a car seat on the ground outside his home.

"I looked inside the car seat. It was facing that way and I saw the baby. A beautiful baby girl crying," Vasiliadas said. "I said, 'Baby. Baby.' I tried to quiet it down. It wouldn't quiet down. Immediately I called 911."
The girl was taken to the hospital for an evaluation and she appeared to be OK. She was later reunited with her mother.

The car remained missing. Police said the Elantra has the New Jersey registration tag D48MUS. They did not release a detailed description of the suspect, only saying he was a wearing a COVID-style mask.
