Man Tries to Lure 2 Girls, Exposes Himself in Upper Darby, Police Say

A 25-year-old man who Upper Darby police say exposed himself and tried to lure two teenage girls while inside a car is now charged.

Police charged Upper Darby resident Rudy Najera-Arita with two luring attempts of children and related offenses.

Earlier Tuesday morning, police tweeted that they made an arrest. "We thought everyone would want to know before the school day begins," police said. "This person has been removed from the streets."

Police say Najera-Arita tried to lure two different girls within a 20-minute span Sunday afternoon on Long Lane. During one of the incidents, he also exposed himself, investigators said Sunday. Police are also working to see if he could be connected to similar cases in nearby towns.

Police said the suspect was driving a 2016 Toyota Corolla.

It is unclear if Najera-Arita has an attorney who could comment on his behalf. Family members said they don't believe he is the suspect and said the car doesn't look like his vehicle.

Najera-Arita, who works in construction, is from Hondurus and in the country illegally. He could face possible deportation.
