UPenn President is Among the Highest Paid in Private Colleges

The head of the University of Pennsylvania is among the highest paid private college presidents in the country.

The Chronicle of Higher Education reports Penn's Amy Gutmann made $2.5 million in 2012, ranking her fourth behind counterparts at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Quinnipiac and Columbia.

The Chronicle on Monday released the results of its survey of the 500 private schools with the largest endowments.

Six other Pennsylvania presidents ranked among the top 100.

John Fry at Drexel was No. 28 with just over $1 million.

James Harris at Widener was No. 37 with just under $1 million.

Lehigh's Alice Gast ranked No. 50 with $884,907.

Carnegie Mellon's Jared Cohon ranked No. 52 with $870,672.

Dickinson College's William Durden was No. 91 with $652,765.

Bucknell's John Bravman finished No. 98 with $628,094.
