Look Inside Penn's New Pennovation Center

The Pennovation Center at University of Pennsylvania’s Pennovation Works campus will officially open its doors in a ceremony later this month, but the three story facility on the 23-acre Pennovation Works campus has been abuzz with the next generation of robotic, bio-engineering and scientific research for the past month.

University officials and tenants of the innovation-driven co-working space opened the doors of the center to the media Friday for a sneak preview ahead of the center’s grand opening to see what's been at work behind the center's walls.

The Penn Engineering Research and Collaboration Hub PERCH, robotics laboratory — part of Penn's GRASP, or general robotics, automation, sensing and perception laboratory — has occupied its third floor space since February when it was in desperate need of the type of amenities the 20,000 square feet offered, said Daniel Koditschek, PERCH director and engineering professor.
