As the University City Science Center helps burgeoning companies take business to the next level, the startups are helping push Philadelphia's economy forward by contributing nearly $13 billion in economic activity in the region, according to a new report.
A joint effort of the Science Center, the Economy League of Greater Philadelphia and Econsult Solutions Inc., The University City Science Center: An Economic Catalyst for Greater Philadelphia report shows the dozens of firms that take up residence in the West Philly incubator "drive $12.9 billion in annual economic activity" in Greater Philadelphia.
The study also highlights the jobs created by the center. Companies that are incubated at the center have an average salary of $103,000, which is almost twice as much as the region's median annual wage of $52,000, the report said.
