Police have confirmed two people are dead following a shooting at a western Pennsylvania residence.
Lower Burrell police tell the Tarentum Valley News Dispatch that a family member discovered the bodies shortly before 8 a.m. Thursday.
Police and the Westmoreland County coroner's office were not immediately releasing the victims' names while authorities worked to notify other relatives.
County detectives and police were continuing to investigate the scene, a modest, single-family home about 25 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
Officials at Stewart Elementary School three blocks away were notified of the shooting as a precaution, but the Burrell School District didn't lock down that building or any of its other facilities.
Authorities haven't commented on initial reports that the shooting was a murder-suicide.
