Man Dies From Injuries After House Fire in Chester

A man died from his injuries following a two-alarm house fire in Chester, Delaware County.

Firefighters responded to the blaze, near 5th Street and Concord Avenue, about 12:30 a.m. Sunday. Officials said when crews arrived, they found heavy fire and smoke on the third floor of the house. The fire spread to two attached buildings as well, and crews struck a second alarm. After about an hour, firefighters had the blaze under control.

An unidentified man was injured in the fire and taken to an area hospital. Sunday night officials announced the man succumbed to his injuries.

A firefighter suffered a minor injury when he was hit by a wire at the scene, but officials said he did not need hospital treatment.

Officials continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
