Truck Driver Charged in Crash That Killed Italian Tourists Heads to Trial

Franklin Wyatt previously told The Associated Press he did not remember the June 2015 crash that killed two Italian tourists and their bus driver on Interstate 380.

A truck driver who said a medical condition caused him to black out before a deadly crash in Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains is heading to trial.

WFMZ-TV reports 57-year-old Franklin Wyatt waved his preliminary hearing Wednesday after being charged with vehicular homicide and involuntary manslaughter, among others.

Wyatt previously told The Associated Press he did not remember the June 2015 crash that killed two Italian tourists and their bus driver on Interstate 380.

Police say Wyatt crossed the median and struck the back of a tractor-trailer. The tour bus then struck Wyatt's vehicle. At least eight people were injured in the crash.

A lawyer for a tour guide injured in the crash says records showed no problems with Wyatt's medical condition or work hours.
