Truck Carrying Cattle Overturns on Ramp Near New Castle

Six of the 15 cows inside the truck were killed

Crews worked to remove a truck carrying cattle after it overturned on a roadway near New Castle.

The truck crashed around 9:30 p.m. Monday on a ramp to Interstate 295, closing that section of the road during the night.

Six of the 15 cows traveling inside the truck were killed. All of the animals were removed by a pet company.

The ramp from Route 141 to southbound I-295 eastbound was closed for more than six hours as the crash was investigated.

Delaware State Police cited the driver for operating an improperly loaded vehicle.
