Car Crashes Into Pole, Takes Down Wires

Several trolley wires are down after a car accident in West Philadelphia.

Police say a car struck a pole at 30th and Girard on Wednesday shortly after 5 p.m. Trolley wires fell and the pole came down on the car, according to police. Officials have not yet revealed whether the driver was injured.

The trolley wires from 30th to 39th Street were damaged in the crash. Shuttle buses are currently being provided between those streets for trolley passengers.

The I-76 East off-ramp was closed for several hours at Girard Avenue/Exit 342. It has since been reopened.
