A district judge has ordered a man to stand trial on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated assault in the stabbing death of a homeless veteran outside a suburban Philadelphia train station earlier this summer.
The Bucks County Courier Times reports a Bucks County judge upheld the charges Monday against Dale Wakefield of Doylestown.
Prosecutors allege that Wakefield stabbed 71-year-old George Mohr at least 70 times with a pocket knife on July 3 outside the Doylestown train station. They said he had been out celebrating his 21st birthday before the stabbing.
Mohr died three days later. Wakefield was later arrested in a Baltimore hotel.
Wakefield's sister testified at Monday's preliminary hearing that her brother “just snapped” when Mohr said something to him after his request for money was rejected.
Authorities say Wakefield stabbed Mohr about 70 times.
Wakefield remained behind bars without bail while he awaits his trial, according to court records.
