Train Derails in South Philadelphia

An 11-car train -- containing crude oil -- came off the rails in South Philadelphia early Saturday  morning, prompting a hazmat situation.

Crews rushed to the tracks, located just south of Pattison Avenue and 11th Street, around 3 a.m. to find the derailed, yet still upright, CSX train, officials said.

No leaks were detected, said Ron Doolittle, a CSX spokesman.

More than three hours later, crews continued to work to get the train back on the tracks.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the derailment.

Other train activity was not affected.
