Pennsylvania Man Faces Prison for Tractor Joyride That Hurt Friend

A Pennsylvania man faces up to seven years in prison for taking a tractor for a joyride that injured his friend, who fell off and was run over during the incident.

The (Somerset) Daily American reports 21-year-old Tyler Kerlin, of Jenners, pleaded guilty Monday to theft by unlawful taking, a third-degree felony.

Police say Kerlin and his friend took the tractor from Boswell Lions Community Park in the township on July 29.

While driving on a path meant for all-terrain vehicles, Kerlin hit a tree and his friend was thrown from the tractor, then run over by a rear wheel and a brush hog attachment.

Kerlin will be sentenced June 21.

His 19-year-old friend will be arraigned April 25 on theft-related charges.
