Truck Driver Dumps Burning Trash Onto New Jersey Apartment Complex Parking Lot

A trash fire broke out inside a Waste Management truck picking up trash from a South Jersey apartment complex Monday morning.

The flames broke out just around 9 a.m. in the parking lot of the Toms River Apartments at 802 Main Street in Toms River, according to Toms River Police.

Investigators said the trash truck driver noticed smoke coming from the rear of his vehicle as he turned out of the complex at Colfax Street.

Police said the driver quickly realized the fire and dumped his load of trash onto the asphalt in hopes of saving the truck from further damage.

Two local fire companies arrived and put out the blaze.

Luckily no one was hurt.

No word yet on what caused the trash to ignite.
