Toddler Not Hurt by 2-Story Fall

Police say a 1-year-old boy escaped injury after he fell from a second-story window, bounced off an awning and landed in a bed of mulch.

The York Daily Record/Sunday News reports Jordan Gonzalez was found smiling after the fall from a window on E Princess Street in York, Pa. Tuesday morning. York is located about 80 miles west of Philadelphia.

Jordan’s mother, Anna Rodriguez, says she was getting something out of a closet at the time.

Rodriguez says the window was open about 8 inches and that the boy pushed it open more and fell out. Emergency workers were called to the Cable House apartment building around 9 a.m. and found the boy.

In February 2005, 2-year-old Malek Cooper also fell from a second-floor window at the complex. He fractured his skull in several places and he spent nearly a week recovering at a hospital.

Earlier this month, a West Philadelphia toddler died after he fell from a fifth-story apartment window.
