2 in Custody in Connection to Shooting of Bethlehem Teens

Authorities say two people are in custody in connection with the shooting of two teenagers in eastern Pennsylvania.

Police say an unidentified man and woman were taken into custody on Sunday at the Knights Inn in Hanover Township in Lehigh County. Both will be charged.

Police say they're not searching for any other suspects in connection with the shooting of the 14-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy on Saturday evening in Bethlehem. Police say the two teens were walking along a city street when they were hit by gunfire.

Both boys were taken to a hospital, where one is listed in critical condition and the other is in serious condition. Both underwent emergency surgery.

A motive for the shooting remains unclear. Police continue to investigate.

"I felt sad," said Alex Batista, the former basketball coach of the 16-year-old boy. "I felt very sad because, you know, he was a kid that was under my wing at one time. Once I heard that I've been praying."
