A teenager has been charged with attempted homicide and attempted rape after authorities allege that he broke into an off-campus home and assaulted an eastern Pennsylvania university student.
Police in Bethlehem said they were called at about 3:20 a.m. Wednesday to a Bethlehem residence and found the unconscious victim half-naked.
Authorities said the Lehigh University student had been choked and smothered with a pillow until she turned blue.
Authorities allege that the 17-year-old suspect used a chair to enter the home through an open first-floor window. They said he didn't know the victim and had never been in the house before.
Police said the handcuffed suspect broke free as police were taking him to a vehicle and was later found hiding under a porch in the area.
