Berks County Teacher Accused of Sex With Student, 15

Berks County, Pa. teacher Kristy C. Risell is accused of carrying on a sexual relationship with one of her students.

A Berks County, Pa. teacher is accused of sexually abusing one of her students, a 15-year-old.

Prosecutors say the relationship lasted four months, starting in January when the teacher, Kristy C. Risell, 31, began texting with the male student. Risell was a teacher at Daniel Boone High School in Birdsboro, Pa.

By March, Risell was picking him up at his home and bringing the victim over to her house in Exeter Township, where the two were having sex, according to a statement by the prosecutor.

When detectives talked to the student in April, they say "the victim disclosed the sexual abuse by Kristy Risell."

Risell surrendered on Thursday. She is charged with statutory sexual assault, indecent assault and exposure, corruption of a minor and related offense.

We contacted Risell's attorney, William R. Bernhart. He said Risell has no comment on the case.
