State police were investigating after a tanker truck crashed into an unmanned toll booth on the Mon/Fayette Expressway in southwestern Pennsylvania.
The (Monessen) Valley Independent reports the truck crashed into a pillar, and came to rest between two booths about 6:40 a.m. Wednesday.
Charleroi Fire Department Capt. Matt Prentice tells the newspaper that the driver was able to get out of the truck before fire crews arrived.
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission also sent a crew to help clean up the scene, which was confined to about 20 gallons of diesel fuel and five gallons of oil spilled.
Troopers from the New Stanton turnpike barracks were investigating. They did not immediately release the driver's name or other information about what caused the crash.
The toll plaza was limited to one lane.
