Suspect in Woman's Murder Found Dead in Car

The suspect in the murder of a Montgomery County woman was found dead in the backseat of a car in Philadelphia Saturday night, according to police.

The body of Stanley (a.k.a. Peter) Laing, 52,  was found in the rear seat of a vehicle on Adams Avenue and Crescentville Road. He was found dead in the car with a gun near him by police and SWAT.

Laing was wanted in connection to the shooting death of 49-year-old Indra Sheets.

Sheets was found dead inside a home she and Laing shared on Sunnybrook Avenue in Cheltenham Township Thursday around 5:20 p.m. Laing allegedly shot and killed her with a semi-automatic pistol before fleeing the scene.

Neighbors described the couple as friendly and told the Bucks County Courier Times that Laing and Sheets lived in the home with two children.

Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman had charged Laing with 1st Degree Murder and related offenses.
