Suspect in Death of Innocent Bystander ID'd

A warrant was issued on Saturday for David Porrata, 33, of Camden.

Police say theyโ€™ve identified the suspect in a shooting that claimed the life of an innocent bystander.

A warrant was issued on Saturday for David Porrata, 33, of Camden. Porrata is wanted in connection to the death of Franklin Parker, 36, of Camden.

Police say Porrata began arguing with another person last Friday around 5 a.m. at the Crown Fried Chicken restaurant on the 200 block of South Broadway in Camden. During the altercation, Parker was sitting in a booth and was not involved, according to investigators.

The incident soon turned violent according to investigators and Porrata allegedly pulled out a gun. Both Parker and another woman with him attempted to escape the restaurant when he was struck by a stray bullet. Parker died from his injuries. A 22-year-old Camden man also suffered an injury. Parker and his friend allegedly fled the scene in a new model pickup truck.

Police say surveillance footage shows Porrata was the only person in the incident who used a firearm and it appears a single shot was responsible for both Parkerโ€™s death and the 22-year-oldโ€™s injury.

Porrata is considered armed and dangerous. If you have any information on his whereabouts please call 911 or Camden Police immediately.
