New Surveillance Video Released from Center City Smash-and-Grab Burglar

Same man wanted for five smash-and-grab burglaries in the Southwest Center City area

New surveillance video has been released from a string of smash-and-grab burglaries in a popular section of Philadelphia.

Cameras inside Omega Pizza at 22nd and South Streets captured a thief throwing a brick through the front window of the pizza shop at 3 a.m. on Saturday morning. That brick sailed through the window and into a beverage refrigerator inside, shattering its glass door as well.

The thief then climbed through the window and made his way over to the cash register, which was all but empty -- save for some change.

Philadelphia Police believe the same man committed another series of burglaries two days later, early Monday morning, in the same neighborhood. NBC10.com first reported these crimes on Monday.

During that crime spree, the man smashed windows and glass front doors at four restaurants in the Southwest Center City neighborhood -- south of Rittenhouse Square.

He was able to steal $190 in cash from Gavin's Cafe at 25th and Pine Streets and $50 from Dmitri's at 22nd and Pine. At Resurrection Ale House at Grays Ferry Avenue and Catherine Street and Honey's Sit & Eat at 21st and South Streets, the man wasn't able to steal any money.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact 215.686.8477.
