Summer Starts Down the Shore

An early evening stroll for many marked the start of the Memorial Day tradition at the shore -- a chance to get away and get cool.
“We decided like at the beginning of the week when we saw the forecast that it was going to be hot and humid by the end of the week- we’re like it’s a good time to go," said Vera Barnard from Delaware County.
The ocean breeze proved to be perfect for one recently engaged couple.
"We’ve been trying to do it since March, but the weather hasn’t cooperated so this is kind of our last attempt at it before Memorial Day Weekend," said Jessica Nice.

And for boardwalk businesses this weekend, better weather always means a better business.
“People think Memorial Day Weekend, they think beginning of the summer, so everybody’s going to come down, flock to the boardwalk, and get some Mack and Manco Pizza," said John Libro.
"We’re all hoping for great weather- great weather means tons of people. Bad weather still means a good amount of people, just not happy people," said Holly Cockerham from Shriver's Salt Water Taffy.

In Wildwood, Morey’s Piers is hoping “It,” the name of a new amusement attraction that opens Friday, will draw plenty of dare-devils and thrill-seekers.
“There’s this huge rush, like the minute that you start going up," said Danielle Glenn from Allentown.
