UPDATE: The bridge has reopened.

Emergency repairs to New Jersey's oldest bridge are taking longer than expected.

The state Transportation Department closed Route 206 over Stony Brook in Princeton after a parapet collapsed on the south side of the bridge, which was built in 1792. Engineers also discovered cracks and voids in the stone arches.

Detours are in place along Route 206.
